Antigidron Mark VL50

Repair and water – proofing mix in-depth with an enhanced cladding effect and durability

Technical Directions 5745-001-54575429-2008

Antigidron Mark VL50 is specilly developed to waterproof the concrete, - rock, - brick surfaces. It feautures high cracking – resistance and an enhanced cladding characteristics.

Fields of application:

  • for repairing inter blocks joints cracks of a fixed openings indecis and for flattering the concrete dents recesses;
  • for repairing reinforced concrete structures exposed to water and agressive media attacks;
  • for repairing bridges;
  • for repairing piping  and sewers;
  • for repairing airotanks, trays and purification structures;
  • for repairing the floors;
  • for treating swimming pools, foundations and other reinforced concrete structures of a high water tightness.

Basic Technical Data

1. Marks of impermeability not less W 20
2. Marks of low – temperature resistance, not less F 400
3. Compressive strength, on MPa, not less 40
4. Setting time (beginning/completion), hour 1/7

Shelf life warranted:

  • In paper sacks for 12 months;
  • In airproof polyethylene bags (5 kg) is available. Transport packaging in sacks (25 kg/5 hags) is available.

Directions for use

1. The surface pre - treatment

The surface pre-treatment involves cleaning, washing and wetting operations.
The surface under repairing is to be thoroughly cleaned from dirt, grease, paint or foreign coatings. A loose fractured concrete layer is peeled to a monolith base. This surface treatment provides the access of reactive chemicals of Antigidron  to the pores and capillary tracks of a mineral structure.
To waterproof the cracks and joints in the concrete, rock, brick building structures it is necessary to cut an additional (20 x 20 mm section) slit right along the crack (joint) by a pick hammer (slitting tool or a metal saw, etc.).

NOTE:

  • The standard slit section is given, shrinkage or temperature strains are not available Antigidron  Mark 4 – “Seaming” is used to waterproof the cracks, joints, seams, adjoints exposed to the strains.

All the cracks with opening should be braced:

  • more 0.5 mm – if water pressure does not affect the crack;
  • more 0.4 mm – the external water pressure on the crack is available;
  • more 0.2 mm – if the water pressure on the crack from the inside of the concrete is available for hydraulic – engineering structures).

A careful material selection and the way of water - proofing should be specially observed if the water pressure exerts an effect on the crack from the inside of the concrete. For this case, particularly, the membrane (smearing) water – proofing is unsuitable since it, unlike the sealing and water – proofing in – depth, is unable to work for “breaking – off”.

REMEMBER: it is impossible to waterproof the surface safely if the cracks being unbraced or unsealed. The cracks treated on the surface solely, then cracks can be inevitably opened to cancel the water - proofing work completely.

The surface is either washed or peeled by scrubbers, brushes or by air-jet to remove totally all the residual products after cleaning operations (exclusive attention should be paid to the seams, joints and cracks). Then the surface is damped until it is fully saturated (surface stops water imbibing).
The surface is considered to be treated if it has been peeled till the monolith base, it is dust - free and enough damped.

2.  The mix preparation

To prepare the mix for repair water - proofing purpose the Antigidron  powder Mark VL50, in a quantity suitable for the consumption within 45 minutes since the water addition, is to be filled in two steps with drinking water while stirring in the total water/ Antigidron  ratio of 0.17–0.23 l water to 1 kg powder. At first a minimum quantity of water is added and then the mix is stirred to obtain a homogeneous mass. Then the mix is set for 3‑5 min. and stirred once more to obtain a working consistence of the mix, the water is added “if necessary”, but its quantity should not exceed the water/Antigidron  ratio prescribed above.

NOTE:

  • an enhanced water addition diminishes the mix service performance;
  • at first Antigidron  Mark VL50 powder imbibes the water when being stirred and in 3-5 min. the Antigidron  Mark VL50 is diluted once more.

The Antigidron Mark VL50 can be prepared either manually or mechanically.

3. The mix smearing over the surface

Antigidron  Mark VL50 should be smeared on the surface to be repaired by a flexible spittle, trowel or mechanically. The thickness of this repair water - proofing layer is to 5 mm of  grid - free. A small tolerance for the thickness of the layer smeared for flattering the rough surface is admissible.

The mix has been smeared, the surface treated should be set under humid condition for 3 days not less and if the humidity is not less 90%, the surface should be covered with polyethylene, tarpaulin, etc. or should be periodically from time to time spray - moistened.

The finishing works on the surface treated by a water - proofing mix should be carried out not earlier than 14 days later since the mix was applied.

4. The mix slit sealing

The slit treated, as prescribed above is filled with Antigidron Mark VL50 by a spattle, trowel or mechanically to ensure an air - proof adjoining of the latter to the slit surface.

The consumption of the slit filled with Antigidron VL50 is 1,9 kg/dm 2 for a slit. For the slit of 20 x 20 mm section the consumption of Antigidron  Mark VL50 is 0,8 kg/m length.

One can start treating the surface adjoining the slit filled with  not earlier than 16 hours after the slit is to be filled with the Antigidron  Mark VL50.

To repair, if necessary, the surface slits filed with the Antigidron  Mark VL50, using plaster cement mortars, one can start working not earlier than 2 days later.

To paint, if necessary, the surface slits filled with the Antigidron  Mark VL50 one can start working not earlier than 15 days later.

WARNINGS

  • Not to carry out any work with the Antigidron Mark 1 at the temperature lower 5°C, or if the temperature lowers more within first 12 hours since the mix is assumed to be applied.
  • Not to carry out any work with the Antigidron  at the temperature higher 40°C.

SAFELY PRECAUTIONS

Antigidron  is nontoxic, fire- and explosion- safety, but it contains abrasive particles and has low-alkali properties that can cause a skin irritation.

When workings with the mix one should observe the safety precautions for plastering works on cement-sand mortars base:

  • put on rubber gloves;
  • put on protective eyeglasses;
  • if the mix hits on the skin and eyes you should immediately rinse then with a plenty of water, in other cases, consult a medical expert.
