Directions for use

1.Preliminary surface treatment

The preliminary surface treatment provides an access for the reactive chemical additives into the pores and capillary system of a mineral origin structure.

Remember: a reliable water - proofing if the surface treated poorly is impossible! Loose and structure - fractured material of the concrete surfaces should be taken off with a help of a pick - hammer, puncher, sand - blast or water - jet brushes, scrapers and metal scratch brushes, etc.

Oil contamination of small depth and areas can be taken off using a solvent. To do this, with a brush, sponge or any other ones, the solvent is spread on the areas contaminated, then it is set for 2 min. and taken off together with the sponge, wiping waste contaminated, etc. The oil contaminations of a larger depth (more 3 mm) and large areas should be taken off in a mechanical manner.

Remember: a water - proofing mix of Antigidron is spread as a liquid solution, so the surface to be treated is to be well wetted without water - repellent areas.

The bare metal surface of the armature, the elements embedded, tubes or other design metal elements (if available) should be cleaned from loose concrete remainders, the remainders of sand and cement mortar or loose rust. It is not recommended to clean thoroughly a strong rust surface layer and to polish a metal surface.
The cracks more than 0.5 mm are to be braced by a pick - hammer or a slitting - tool up to a "sound body" with the slits of the 20 mm depth and the 20 mm width.
To waterproof new installations it is necessary to take off the cement suspension from the surface mechanically.

Note: the surface should be dust - free, the time interval between the surface cleaning completion and the mix application is not more then 24 hours.

2. Mortar Mix Preparation.

To pour Antigidron  Mark 0-6 powder, in a quantity can be consumed within 60 min after water addition, into a reservoir. To add a drinking water while stirring in two steps:

For a brush use - in a 0.19-0.3l 1/kg ratio
For a spattle use - in a 0.16-0.19l 1/kg ratio

Antigidron Mark 0-6 can be prepared both in a manual way and a mechanical one. When preparing, a minimum specified water quantity should be added at first, then the mix is stirred to form a homogenous substance. Then the mix should be set for 3-5 min, then it is stirred once more and water is added (if necessary) to obtain a normal consistency of a mortar but not higher than the Antigidron/water ratio prescribed above.

Note: an enhanced water addition impairs the operating performance.

If Antigidron is in a durable use, it is recommended to stir the mix additionally to reduce plasticity; but the water addition is here prohibited.

3.Antigidron Application.

Antigidron Mark 0-6, smeared by a brush before the base layer - repair mix, provides a higher protection since it increases the adhesion to the surface treated (mineral/metal). Besides this Antigidron Mark 1, smeared by a brush, possesses protective properties and is allowed to be applied for water - proofing independently.

The surface pretreated should be damped to become water - saturated and then Antigidron should be smeared by a brush. The brush for Antigidron must be stiff not to leave its bristle on the surface. The consumption of Antigidron Mark 0-6, when the brush is used, depends on the quality of the surface being treated and for a flat surface it is 0.8 kg/m2 (in one layer) if the layer thickness in not more than 0.5 mm.

Not earlier than in 2 hours since a brush treatment, the dents, recesses, hollows, cracks or joints are to be sealed with a repair and water - proofing Antigidron Mark VL50, before applying this repair and water - proofing mix, the surface should be damped to become fully saturated.

Not earlier than in 3 hours the base layer of Antigidron Mark 0-6 is smeared by a spattle (2.7 kg/m2 consumption; 1-1.5 mm layer thickness) perpendicular to the first layer smeared by a brush. Dampen the surface until it is fully saturated prior smearing the base layer of Antigidron.

Remember: reactive chemical additives can penetrate through the concrete, rock or brick as a water solution, so, the deeper the water impregnation of the surface treated, the deeper the reactive chemical additives can penetrate into this surface, and the water-proofing will become more secure.

The Antigidron layer must fit tightly against the surfaces, especially in the joint points, communication outlets, etc.
"Curing operations" and the water - proofing are carried out from top to bottom.
In special cases the way of Antigidron Mark 0-6 (by brush/spattle) smearing and the quantity of the layer smeared depend on the water pressure on the treated surface. The standard ways of Antigidron Mark 0-6 application in dependence of the water pressure on the surface treated are given below:

Water pressure, MPa Ways of Antigidron application, quantity of the layers smeared
Is not available Two (interperpendicular) lays, 0.3 - 0.5 mm thickness, 0.8 kg/m2 consumption for each layer (by brush)
Less 0.2 (in the most cases) One layer, 0.3-0.8 mm thickness, 0.8-1.2kg/m3 consumption (by brush); another layer perpendicular to the first one, 1-1.5mm thickness, 2.7 kg/m2 consumption (by a spattle)
0.2 and more (up to 1.2) One layer, 0.3-0.8 mm thickness, 0.8-1.2 kg/m2 consumption (by brush) other two interperpendicular layers,1-2 mm thickness, 2.7 kg/m2 consumption for each layer (by spattle)

If any problems can occur while spreading Antigidron over the surfaces, there is a need for additional damping but it is not recommended to add water.

Using a spattle to smear two layers, try to observe the time interval. It is not less than 5 hours between the first layer and the second one with the prewetting of the surface being treated.

4. Protection and maintenance

The mix has been smeared (at atmosphere humidity less 90%), the surface treated by Antigidron should be damped for 3 days, at least twice a day. If the consumption of Antigidron exceeds 5 kg/m3, the wetting procedure should be prolonged for 4-5 days.

Note! Overdrying of the surface treated by Antigidron  during the first 24 hours is prohibited!

WARNING
  • Do not work with Antigidron  Mark 1 at the temperature lower 5°С or if the temperature drops less 5°С within first 12 hours since the mix application.
  • Do not work with Antigidron  at the temperature higher than 40°С
Safety precautions

Antigidron  is nontoxic, fire and explosion - safety but has also low - alkali properties that can cause skin irritation.
The standing orders for safety precautions in the plastering works must be observed:

  • use rubber gloves
  • put on protective eyeglasses
  • if the mix hits in the eyes or the skin, rinse them thoroughly. In other more serious cases consult a medical expert.
